Job summary

Atoms in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer to own vehicle bring-up and sensor calibration across our autonomous platforms. You will take a vehicle from mechanical completion to first autonomous engagement and a validated unit released into the fleet.

You will build calibration and test infrastructure to turn bring-up into a repeatable production process, define acceptance criteria, and ensure calibration integrity across lidar, radar, camera, IMU, and GNSS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in EE/CE/Mechatronics or related.
• 3+ years integrating, validating, and debugging vehicle systems in autonomous or automotive contexts.
• Deep hands-on vehicle E/E architecture experience: power distribution, harness, connectors.
• Fluency in automotive networks (CAN, CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet) and debugging tools.
• Experience with vehicle actuation interfaces and powertrain systems.
• Experience integrating compute in vehicles: carrier boards, high-speed signaling, thermal management.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication.
• Willing to work onsite in San Francisco five days a week and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle Bring-Up: Own the bring-up sequence end to end: power-on, firmware and software load, device enumeration, systems validation, first autonomous engagement validation and the sign-off that releases a vehicle to the fleet.
• Sensor Calibration: Own intrinsic and extrinsic calibration across lidar, radar, camera, IMU, and GNSS. Build and maintain the calibration environment and verification criteria.
• Test Plans & Validation: Author test plans, execute, analyze data, and report results clearly for action.
• Cross-Domain Diagnosis: Resolve ambiguous failures across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software boundaries.
• Test Hardware & Tooling: Specify, build, and maintain benches, harnesses, and diagnostic tooling.
• Design Feedback: Feed learning back into hardware design to ease calibration.
• Technician Partnership: Collaborate with engineering technicians who execute builds and bring-up.
