Job summary

NewGen Technologies is seeking a VDI Consultant to design, deploy, optimize, and support VMware Horizon, Citrix, and Microsoft technologies within a customer IT environment. The role emphasizes secure, scalable virtual desktops aligned with business needs.

The candidate should have Top Secret Clearance or equivalent; 5+ years of VDI experience; scripting skills in PowerShell/Python; and strong knowledge of Active Directory and M365 administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in VDI design, deployment, and support.
• Expertise in VMware Horizon View, vSphere, vCenter, Citrix, Microsoft AVD, and Dell infrastructure.
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) for automation and monitoring.
• Familiarity with Active Directory, SCCM/Intune, and M365 administration.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain VDI environments (VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops).
• Troubleshoot user access issues, performance bottlenecks, and application delivery problems.
• Perform health checks, patching, and capacity planning.
• Support endpoint devices including thin clients, zero clients, and mobile access.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and system changes.
• Design & Deployment: assist in designing and implementing VDI architectures using Dell infrastructure (PowerEdge, VxRail, PowerStore); configure and deploy virtual desktops and application pools; integrate App Volumes, UEM, and profile management tools.
• Optimization & Performance: analyze performance metrics and recommend improvements; implement automation scripts for provisioning and monitoring; support GPU-accelerated VDI for multimedia-rich applications.
• Security & Compliance: ensure VDI environments meet security standards and compliance requirements; configure policies for access control, USB redirection, and endpoint security.
• Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer: work with customer IT teams and Dell support; provide training and documentation; participate in change management and project planning meetings.
