Emerson is seeking a Lead Engineer, Utility to act as the technical authority for the utility product category in Rockford, IL (or Elyria, OH). You will influence product direction and system-level design decisions, lead field validation, and mentor engineers and technicians across disciplines.

You will travel ~25% and collaborate with product management, customers, and service teams to ensure solutions meet market needs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8 years of professional engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with test & measurement equipment for utility/industrial use.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel ~25% (up to 50% at times).
• US work authorization (no sponsorship).

Responsabilités

• Serve as the technical authority for the utility product category and primary technical contact.
• Partner with Product Management to align strategy and translate customer needs into requirements.
• Conduct field visits with end users, distributors, and service teams.
• Develop and maintain validation standards and pass/fail criteria.
• Ensure designs align with category standards using analysis and testing.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
• Lead sustaining engineering, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Stay aware of industry standards and emerging technologies.
• Represent the category in cross-functional reviews across disciplines.
