Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Warren State Hospital is seeking a Utility Plant Operator 2 to oversee high‑pressure boiler systems and related plant equipment. The role supports continuous facility operations, safety, and reliable service for the hospital’s daily needs.

The position focuses on operation, maintenance, and repair tasks, including water testing, preventive care, and emergency response. Work is full‑time with a rotating shift, 4:00 PM–12:00 AM, and a 30‑minute lunch; telework is not

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 or equivalent
• One year of semi-skilled work in operation, maintenance, or repair of utility plant systems
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including six months of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust high‑pressure boilers and related systems for safe, efficient performance
• Collect samples, conduct chemical tests, and treat water to maintain feedwater quality
• Repair, replace, and maintain pumps, motors, steam traps and other plant components for reliable operation
• Make emergency repairs, diagnose problems, and take corrective action to maintain plant operations
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and keep plant areas clean and safe
• Rotate shifts to maintain continuous, effective plant operations
