Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Boiler Plant Operator to run, maintain, and repair boiler systems across its facilities. You will start/stop boilers, take readings, perform water tests, and maintain EPA/state/local compliance documentation.

Responsibilities include safety checks, logbook validation, ensuring hospital-wide steam supply, fuel monitoring, and preventive maintenance. Experience with boiler rooms and maintaining records is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience operating industrial boilers or boiler plants.
• Knowledge of water treatment and boiler chemistry.
• Familiarity with EPA, state and local codes and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain boilers and related systems to ensure reliable steam supply.
• Perform safety checks on boiler plant equipment and monitor conditions.
• Validate logbook entries and follow instructions from the Chief Engineer.
• Ensure steam generation supports hospital heat, hot water, and central services.
• Monitor fuel levels and document compliance with regulations.
• Test boiler water chemistry and adjust treatment as needed.
• Respond to floor requests when boiler pressure is low.
• Oversee cleaning and preventive maintenance of boiler room equipment.
• Stock inventory, tools, and supplies; manage related resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
