Job summary

New Leaf Energy is seeking a Senior Utility Electrical Engineer to join our team and lead engineering and policy efforts across DER interconnection and utility-scale projects. The role offers hybrid work from offices in Boston, Lowell, MA, Chicago, Oakland, CA, or Troy, NY, with remote consideration for highly qualified candidates in the U.S.

The engineer will evaluate sites, coordinate with stakeholders, and mentor engineers while ensuring compliance with IEEE standards and utility requirements

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering and policy experience in renewable energy interconnection.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Masters preferred.
• PE license preferred.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of IEEE 1547-2018, 1547.1-2020, 1453-2015, C62.92.6, ANSI C84.1, IEEE 519-1992, NEC-Latest Edition.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate distribution- and ISO-level studies for interconnection impacts.
• Estimate interconnection costs and review drawings.
• Lead interconnection process at project level.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants.
• Support policy advocacy for DER interconnection.
