Job summary

New Leaf Energy in Lowell/Boston area is seeking a Civil Engineer I to assist in reviewing, designing, and permitting community and utility-scale solar, wind, or energy storage projects. You will work with senior engineers and project teams.

This role includes site due diligence, drafting site plans, stormwater design with HYDROCAD, and coordinating with AHJs and boards. Hybrid work and occasional site visits are expected.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• EIT certificate or on-track to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• 1–3 years of experience; recent graduates with internship or COOP experience encouraged to apply.
• Must have some experience with AutoCAD; Civil 3D is desired but not required.
• College coursework in hydrological modeling; HYDROCAD experience preferred.
• Experience with or knowledge of field surveying concepts desired.
• High energy, resourceful, and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Able to occasionally visit project sites for pre-development evaluations and to evening meetings of project-approving authorities.
• Solid written, oral communication, and analytical skills.
• Passionate about renewable sources of energy.

Responsibilities

• Site due diligence, permitting path research, and drafting civil memos.
• Prepare site plans for AHJ submissions.
• Analyze and prepare Stormwater Reports using HYDROCAD.
• Assist in developing standard details, notes, and specifications, and reviewing drawings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
