Job summary

MSD at the Durham, NC facility is seeking a Senior Mechanic to maintain and troubleshoot site utility and clean utility systems, including boilers, chillers, HVAC, WFI, and BAS/DCS controls. This role collaborates with Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Operations, Validation, Automation, and Engineering to ensure reliable operations for vaccine production.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical diploma preferred.
• 5+ years maintenance experience on industrial utility, HVAC, or clean utility systems.
• GMP or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with SAP or CMMS maintenance systems.
• Knowledge of boilers, chillers, HVAC, WFI, and clean steam systems.
• PLC/BAS/DCS experience preferred; on-call rotation availability.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and commissioning on utility and clean utility equipment.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance and calibrations per site procedures.
• Diagnose failures and lead troubleshooting to restore reliability.
• Support outages, shutdowns, startups, and emergency responses.
• Develop and revise SOPs, PM plans, task lists, and documentation.
• Execute SAP work orders, notifications, confirmations, and material tracking.
• Assist with validation testing, commissioning, and change control.
• Support root-cause investigations, CAPAs, and reliability initiatives.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Maintain GMP documentation and safety/environmental compliance.
