Job summary

Technical Source is seeking a Utilities Maintenance Technician for a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing site in North Carolina. This hands-on role maintains clean utilities systems, including clean water, clean steam, and process gases, to keep sterile operations running around the clock.

You will troubleshoot, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, document work in GMP-compliant logs and CMMS records, and respond to alarms.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years hands-on maintenance on clean utilities systems in a GMP facility.
  • Working knowledge of GMP documentation practices and cGMP expectations.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation troubleshooting for utility components (pumps, valves, PLC-monitored skids, generators).
  • Ability to work night shift on a 3-2-2 rotating schedule (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
  • High school diploma or GED; technical/trade school or military training a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on clean utilities systems.
  • Maintain clean water systems (WFI, Purified Water) and water distribution.
  • Maintain clean/compressed air systems supporting production.
  • Maintain clean steam systems (generation and distribution to point of use).
  • Maintain process gas systems (nitrogen, CO2, and other production gases).
  • Document maintenance in GMP-compliant logs and CMMS records.
  • Respond to utility system alarms and deviations; escalate as required.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Validation, and Quality teams on performance and compliance.

Job description

Technical Source is hiring a Utilities Maintenance Technician for a large-scale, GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing site in NC. This is a hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting role supporting the clean utilities systems that keep sterile manufacturing operations running around the clock — clean water, clean steam, and process gases. If you have a background in industrial or facilities maintenance within a regulated environment and want to bring that experience to one of the largest sterile injectable manufacturing operations in the country, we'd like to talk to you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on clean utilities systems supporting GMP manufacturing.
  • Maintain clean water systems (WFI, Purified Water, USP water distribution and generation).
  • Maintain clean/compressed air systems supporting production operations.
  • Maintain clean steam systems (generation and distribution to point of use).
  • Maintain process gas systems (nitrogen, CO2, and other production gases as applicable).
  • Complete maintenance documentation in line with GMP practices (work orders, logbooks, CMMS records).
  • Respond to utility system alarms and deviations during your shift and elevate per site protocol.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Validation, and Quality teams on utility system performance and compliance.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • 3+ years of hands‑on maintenance/troubleshooting experience on clean utilities systems (clean water, clean steam, process/compressed gases) in a GMP‑regulated facility.
  • Working knowledge of GMP documentation practices and cGMP environment expectations.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation troubleshooting skills applicable to utility system components (pumps, valves, PLC‑monitored skids, generators).
  • Ability to work night shift on a 3‑2‑2 rotating schedule (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school or military technical training a plus.
NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience in a sterile injectable, parenteral, or aseptic manufacturing environment.
  • Experience at a large‑scale pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
