Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Senior Utilities Operator - Gas to lead and manage daily gas and water utility operations. You will supervise staff, ensure regulatory compliance, monitor SCADA, and coordinate emergencies with city staff.

This full-time role requires strong technical knowledge of water treatment, groundwater wells, gas distribution, and regulatory standards (TCEQ, EPA, AWWA). Salary range is provided; valid Texas driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of municipal utility operations experience.
• Minimum three years operating water treatment facilities and groundwater well systems.
• TCEQ Class C Water Operator License required.
• TCEQ Class C Wastewater License required.
• Natural Gas Operator Qualification Certifications.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Direct, schedule, and oversee the daily activities of Utilities Operators and Technicians.
• Train personnel in operational procedures, safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and equipment operation.
• Monitor SCADA systems, alarms, and telemetry data; respond to emergencies.
• Perform preventive maintenance on water treatment and gas systems and coordinate major repairs.
• Ensure regulatory reporting and inspections are completed accurately.
