Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Senior Utilities Operator - Water to lead and supervise daily operations for water production, treatment, distribution, wastewater, and natural gas systems. You will ensure compliance with TCEQ, EPA, Railroad Commission of Texas, OSHA, and AWWA standards while overseeing field staff and SCADA systems.

The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and hands-on experience in water treatment, groundwater wells, and utility maintenance.

Qualifications

Minimum five years of municipal utility operations experience.
Minimum three years operating water treatment facilities and groundwater wells.
Experience with SCADA systems and telemetry preferred.
Previous supervisory or lead operator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Direct, schedule, and oversee the daily activities of Utilities Operators and Technicians.
Coordinate emergency response activities and after-hours callouts.
Monitor SCADA systems, alarms, reports, and telemetry data to identify operational issues and maintain system reliability.
Train personnel in operational procedures, safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and equipment operation.
Maintain operational records, production reports, flow data, treatment logs, and system performance reports.
