Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Sr. Utilities Engineer to optimize and manage utility systems across our facilities, focusing on industrial refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air systems.

You will design, develop, operate, and optimize, troubleshooting and implementing new projects while ensuring regulatory compliance. The role involves collaboration with facilities teams and PSM management; 50% travel is expected to support multiple sites across the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
• 5+ years of related experience in operations, maintenance and optimization of ammonia refrigeration systems.
• RETA CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) or ANSI/IIAR2 certification or equivalent.
• Deep theoretical understanding of industrial refrigeration systems and their application.

Responsibilities

• Support US Fresh and Packaged Meat Facilities; collaborate with facilities teams.
• Assist in developing designs for refrigeration systems and project equipment.
• Assist with planning and budgeting of utilities engineering projects; optimize utility systems.
• Lead multiple improvement efforts ensuring proper protocols and practices.
