OpenGov powers sophisticated payroll operations for the U.S. workforce. The Senior Manager, Payroll owns end-to-end payroll processing, ensures accuracy and compliance across jurisdictions, and leads a payroll specialist. This in-office leadership role collaborates with Finance, Accounting, HR, and Legal, and may extend to equity administration over time.

The role emphasizes process documentation, control strengthening, system automation, and scalable practices as the company grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of US payroll experience, including 3+ years managing staff in multi-state payroll.
• Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and ADP SmartCompliance.
• Exceptional attention to detail with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll processing for the United States, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across jurisdictions.
• Manage payroll tax compliance and drive audits with federal, state, and local authorities.
• Collaborate with HR on 401(k), HSA, and FSA administration and ensure correct deductions and remittances.
• Provide tax information and withholding calculations for RSU settlements; potentially administer RSU processes.
• Oversee quarterly and year-end tax reporting including W-2, 1099, and Form 940/941 filings.
• Own payroll general ledger reconciliations and assist month-end close; support audits.
• Design and maintain payroll controls, ensuring readiness for audits and strong reconciliation.
