Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. seeks a Senior Planner to lead complex urban and community planning projects, serving as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams. You will mentor staff and collaborate across disciplines to shape strategies and deliver outcomes that improve communities.

The position may be based in Duluth or St. Cloud, MN, offering an ESOP culture and opportunities for professional growth within a nationwide planning practice.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of progressive planning experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Urban Planning, Public Policy, or related field.
• AICP certification strongly preferred, not required.
• Experience leading planning projects and managing client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of land use planning, zoning, entitlement processes, and planning best practices.
• Experience preparing planning studies, technical reports, development reviews, and public-facing documents.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning projects from concept through implementation for clients.
• Manage diverse planning initiatives including land use, comprehensive plans, development reviews, and policy development.
• Engage stakeholders, facilitate public meetings, and present to clients and officials.
• Mentor staff, review technical work, and contribute to proposals and business development.
• Collaborate with engineers and landscape architects on multidisciplinary projects.
