Job summary

Creative G C in NYC is seeking a Unix/Linux System Administrator for a long-term public sector IT consulting engagement. The role requires 4+ years of experience and a hybrid NYC location (3 days on-site).

You will design, implement, and maintain UNIX/Linux infrastructure, develop specifications, and create comprehensive documentation. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and a focus on security, resiliency, and operational readiness are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in infrastructure or systems administration.
• Hands-on experience building, configuring, and supporting highly available infrastructure.
• Strong experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Linux server and containerized environments.
• Experience in SAN storage and SAN Fabric switches.
• Proficient in documenting infrastructure design and operation procedures.
• Understanding of availability, resiliency, monitoring, security, and performance requirements.
• Excellent troubleshooting and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, implement, and maintain UNIX/Linux infrastructure environments.
• Develop system design specifications meeting infra, operational, security, and availability requirements.
• Prepare infrastructure designs and evaluate alternative approaches.
• Develop specs for servers, OS, storage, networks, security, databases, and communications.
• Create diagrams and documentation for infra, network, storage, and security environments.
• Maintain system configurations, monitoring tools, and communication systems documentation.
• Develop and maintain operational, installation, and support procedures.
• Establish guidelines and upgrade procedures for OS, hardware, and networks.
• Design, test, and maintain highly available and resilient enterprise infra environments.
• Support enhancements, upgrades, changes, and implementation activities with teams.
• Design and maintain system monitoring, audit trails, logging, and security mechanisms.
• Provide technical assistance and escalation for complex infra and IT issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance, availability, and integration issues.
• Perform infrastructure testing, evaluation, and validation for readiness.
• Implement and maintain SAN storage and SAN Fabric across platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers, admins, developers, and support teams.
• Maintain accurate technical and user documentation.
