Job summary

National Capitol Contracting LLC is seeking a Unified Communications Engineer for an onsite role in Washington, DC. You will provide technical direction across voice, video, and data networks, integrating UC platforms and ensuring security compliance.

You will lead projects, mentor staff, and collaborate with stakeholders to design and optimize enterprise UC solutions such as Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, Expressway, and Microsoft Teams Voice. A TS/SCI CI polygraph is welcome for the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 10+ years of enterprise telecommunications and Unified Communications engineering/administration experience.
• Expert knowledge of voice, video, collaboration systems, and supporting networks.
• Experience with Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, IM & Presence, Expressway, and Microsoft Teams Voice.
• Strong knowledge of SIP, H.323, MGCP, UDP, RTP, SRTP, and TLS protocols.
• Experience with QoS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPSEC, Cisco CUBE, Oracle SBC, and related network technologies.
• Experience with ESXi virtualization, Cisco UCS, and cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Knowledge of security controls, certificates, and compliance standards such as DISA STIGs.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and project management skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead teams effectively.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical authority for enterprise Unified Communications environments.
• Establish goals, roadmaps, and project plans aligned with objectives.
• Design, engineer, integrate, and optimize enterprise UC platforms including Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, Expressway, and Teams Voice.
• Provide Tier 4 troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for outages.
• Analyze network performance and recommend modernization efforts.
• Integrate UC with AD, cloud services, virtualization, and network infrastructure.
• Lead technology refreshes, data center migrations, and platform enhancements.
• Mentor team members and collaborate across organizational levels.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, engineering docs, diagrams, and standards.
