Job summary

AIG is seeking a Senior Underwriting Assistant to support underwriting operations in Illinois. The role focuses on screening risk offerings, pre/post-binding processes, and research requiring broad insurance knowledge.

It involves collaboration with the Underwriting Support Unit and serves as the first point of contact for brokers. Typical duties include policy issuance, endorsements, renewals management, loss rating, and basic pricing work under supervision.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of commercial insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements.
• 3+ years of commercial insurance experience.
• Ability to navigate multiple proprietary, vendor, web-based, and standard computer systems.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong problem solving and client servicing skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist underwriters by screening risk offerings and with pre and post-binding processes.
• Review submissions against criteria to determine if risk qualifies for LOB risk appetite.
• Renewals: review policies for manuscript endorsements and initiate endorsement approval.
• Issue policies, endorsements, and cancellations; prepare writing instructions and premium billings.
• Complete loss rating and develop initial pricing, basic coverage structuring, quotation, and binder packages.
• Serve as the first point of contact for brokers and assist in preparing business/metrics reports.
