Job summary

American International Group, Inc. (AIG) seeks a Senior Underwriting Assistant to support underwriting across PA, NJ and IL locations—Philadelphia, Parsippany, Jersey City and Chicago.

You will screen submissions, assist renewals and endorsements, prepare policy writings and billing, and perform quality control while mentoring junior staff. The role emphasizes client servicing, problem solving and attention to detail in a collaborative office setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of commercial insurance experience.
• Prioritizing – able to navigate and switch between multiple proprietary, vendor, web-based, and standard computer systems.
• Microsoft Office – proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Learning Agility – willingness to learn from experiences and new situations.
• Client Servicing – ability to anticipate client (internal and external) needs and act proactively.
• Problem Solving – identify problems and solutions matched to the appropriate solutions.
• Attention to Detail – demonstrate attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation is maintained.

Responsibilities

• Screen risk submissions and determine if risk fits within appetite.
• Assist in renewals, endorsements, and policy filings.
• Prepare manuscript endorsement approvals and related instructions.
• Issue policies, endorsements, and cancellations; process filings and billing.
• Complete loss rating and initial pricing; draft quotations and binder packages.
• Understand coverages and program structures; ensure account completeness.
• Serve as first point of contact for brokers and coordinate with underwriters.
• Assist in preparing business and metric reports; review procedures for improvements.
• Train and supervise junior support staff.
• Attend broker or client meetings as requested.
