Job summary

Founders First Capital Partners seeks a Portfolio Specialist / Senior Underwriting Associate in San Diego, CA. The role blends portfolio management and underwriting within a growing credit team, reporting to the Credit and Portfolio Management Department.

Hybrid work requires on-site presence Tue-Thu at the San Diego HQ. The successful candidate will manage existing loan portfolios, perform underwriting analyses, prepare credit memoranda, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or related field.
• 5–10 years direct commercial or small-business loan underwriting experience.
• Strong financial modeling and Excel skills; ability to interpret financial statements.
• Ability to manage multiple borrower relationships and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage portfolio performance and credit quality.
• Review borrower financial statements, bank activity, and payment performance.
• Track loan payments, covenants, and borrower reporting obligations.
• Underwrite and prepare credit memoranda; present to Investment Committee.
• Develop portfolio-management policies and improve internal controls.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams across the organization.
