Job summary

Hometap is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead day-to-day operations of the underwriting team, reporting to the Director of Originations. You will drive productivity, manage risk, and partner across Sales, Processing, and Closing to hit company metrics.

You bring 5+ years in residential underwriting, 2+ years in people management, and a strong eye for detail, enabling scalable processes and cross-functional collaboration. Equity and healthcare accompany the role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of underwriting experience in residential finance.
• 2+ years of experience managing a production-based team.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong proofreading skills.
• Ability to assess risk in evolving market conditions and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day management of the underwriting team to meet metrics.
• Collaborate with Sales, Processing, and Closing teams.
• Evaluate information against underwriting criteria to flag risks and make recommendations.
• Serve as the primary contact for eligibility escalations.
• Mentor underwriters to improve pipeline management and quality.
• Ensure adherence to investor guidelines and internal procedures.
• Participate in recruiting and career development for the team.
