Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a senior underwriting professional to lead Large Construction portfolios in the Chicago area. Qualifications

• Expert-level knowledge of coverage forms, exclusions, and exposure.
• Pricing, structure, rating, loss forecasting, and market knowledge.
• Advanced knowledge of construction programs, insurance operations, claims, finance, actuarial concepts, and regulatory environment.
• Skilled collaborator able to drive consensus and execute collaboration models.
• Superior communication, tact, coaching, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.
• 10+ years of relevant underwriting experience with brokers/agents and market awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical underwriting guidance across multiple lines in Large Construction (auto, GL, workers' comp, lead/excess).
• Maintain alignment of primary casualty and OCIP/CCIP wrap-up placements and advise on exposure and pricing within authority.
• Monitor underwriting frameworks and suggest improvements; assess portfolio performance and opportunities.
• Drive underwriting excellence in Large Construction and partner with leadership on issues.
• Identify opportunities for product/service improvements and coordinate resources for implementation.
• Foster collaboration across underwriting, claims, actuarial, and product teams; engage brokers and customers as needed.
