Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Senior Consultant, Underwriting Practice - Middle Market to develop underwriting policies and standards for Middle Market. You will mentor field teams, lead underwriting initiatives, and work across product, sales, and partners to support profitable growth.

The role requires substantial captive/alternative risk experience, strong analytical skills, and excellent decision-making abilities. A hybrid model is supported, with remote options for qualified candidates nationwide.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in business or related field; advanced studies preferred.
• CPCU, ARM or other industry designation or equivalent preferred.
• Typically, more than 10 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, including at least five years in middle market.

Responsibilities

• Provides highly technical underwriting perspective to field teams and consults on opportunities and risk.
• Offers evaluation and action recommendations for niche underwriting opportunities.
• Coaches field staff for negotiations with agents and customers.
• Maintains competitive intelligence and mentors field team on profitable writing and retention.
