Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Senior Consultant, Underwriting Practice for the Middle Market. The role focuses on developing and implementing underwriting standards, advising on risks, and guiding field teams across diverse products and accounts.

Ideal candidates have substantial captive/alternative risk experience and a strong business acumen. Hybrid work is available; some travel may be required as part of collaboration with product, loss control and performance teams.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in business or related subject; advanced studies preferred.
• CPCU, ARM or other industry designation or equivalent preferred.
• 10+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, including 5+ years in middle market.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting policies, procedures and standards for Middle Market.
• Offer guidance on risks/accounts, policy forms, and underwriting appetite.
• Mentor field teams and collaborate with Product and Performance groups.
• Support book/portfolio management and development of underwriting initiatives.
• Develop relationships with cross-functional partners to strengthen underwriting acumen.
