Job summary

UnitedHealthcare seeks a Senior Underwriting Consultant for E&I to analyze Financial Protection Products—Group Life, Disability and Supplemental Health—and to assess risk. You will develop rating methodologies and design pricing options to balance profit with sales growth, while mentoring peers in complex underwriting.

Remote work is available nationwide; in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, four days in office are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in group insurance underwriting for Life, LTD, STD and Supplemental Health.
• Large case underwriting and pricing development experience.
• Experience in training and mentoring others.
• Expertise in contracts, plan designs and funding arrangements.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Ability to collaborate with partners to develop case strategies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial modeling for reserve and budget calculations aligned with client strategies.
• Evaluate risk for Life, LTD, STD and supplemental health products.
• Validate renewals and proposals for accuracy across group sizes.
• Deliver competitive renewals and renewal analyses to maintain inforce blocks.
• Conduct competitive analysis and present findings to leadership.
• Mentor junior underwriters and share knowledge through training.
