Bachelor's degree or equivalent; professional designations preferred.
Typically a minimum eight years underwriting experience.
As determined by CNA, candidates may be hired into Underwriter, Underwriting Specialist or Underwriting Consultant; typically 3-10+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties per departmental guidelines.
Assess highly complex underwriting risks using diagnostic and systematic analysis.
Determines pricing for complex risks based on financial and competitive analysis.
Makes recommendations on underwriting policy and pricing strategy.
Analyzes quality, quantity, and profitability of complex risks; presents reports to management.
Markets products/services through agencies or brokerage community and conducts field visits.
Develops and maintains agency/broker relationships to secure profitable high-risk business.
Keeps current on state/territory issues and industry trends; may participate in industry groups.
Mentors and guides less experienced underwriters and assists in training.
Utilizes advanced CNA systems for day-to-day activities.
Responsible for special underwriting projects and presentations.
