Job summary

Unum is seeking a Senior Underwriter in the United States to lead risk evaluation and support sales teams and brokers in selecting profitable cases. You will ensure adherence to guidelines and provide timely, high-quality risk assessments.

In this role you will maintain product knowledge, mentor junior underwriters, and collaborate across underwriting, sales, and enrollment processes to drive profitability and customer success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant business experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency at Underwriter level.
• Fully developed knowledge of product provisions, plan designs, pricing and contractual benefits.
• Strong communication and analytical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Consult with sales and service partners to provide products and plan options.
• Evaluate and select risk to ensure profitable acquisition of new cases.
• Conduct high-quality risk assessments to meet guidelines and targets.
• Maintain knowledge of products, processes, and market influences.
• Deliver dependable, accurate service while partnering with internal/external teams.
• Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to training.
