Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an experienced underwriter to grow our admitted middle-market business from the Atlanta office. The role focuses on underwriting, broker relationships, and portfolio development across multiple lines of business.

You will work with internal teams to ensure consistent, well-reasoned underwriting outcomes while building a profitable book and strong market presence with retail partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of multi-line underwriting experience.
• Strong critical thinking and market acumen.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-growing, high-energy team.
• Excellent collaboration across levels and disciplines.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow a profitable, multi-line admitted book of business with retail agents and brokers.
• Partner with Marketing, Loss Control, Claims, Actuarial and Product to deliver underwriting outcomes.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail brokers.
• Balance speed and discipline by making sound underwriting decisions under multiple priorities.
• Provide feedback on distribution, processes, and appetite to refine craftsmanship.
