Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) in the United States invites an experienced underwriter to join our Atlanta, GA team. You will be responsible for underwriting, developing broker relationships, and growing a profitable middle-market portfolio.

Collaborate with Marketing, Loss Control, Claims, Actuarial and Product to deliver sound underwriting outcomes while navigating a fast-growing, high-energy environment. Eligible for annual bonus and strong career growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of multi-line underwriting experience.
• Strong underwriting and market acumen.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-growing, high-energy team environment.
• Diligence, creativity, and collaboration across levels and disciplines.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and make timely decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
• Strong communication skills, including negotiation and presentation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow a profitable, multi-line admitted book of business in partnership with retail agents and brokers.
• Partner with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Loss Control, Claims, Actuarial, and Product) to deliver consistent, well-reasoned underwriting outcomes.
• Develop, maintain, and service strong relationships with retail brokers.
• Balance speed and discipline by making sound underwriting decisions while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Help shape the future of the operation by providing feedback on distribution, processes, underwriting approach, and appetite to continuously refine our craftsmanship.
