Job Description

Position Overview

Predominantly remote position with 10% travel in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Senior Underwriter develops and fosters positive, professional relationships with the company’s agency partners, while achieving growth and profitability objectives. The role requires high technical expertise, sound judgment, and consistent results.

Key Responsibilities

• Review loss experience, insurance to value, loss control reports, and other relevant risk factors.
• Maintain strong knowledge of underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, enhancements, rating plans, and workflow.
• Assess acceptability of commercial lines package, auto, workers' compensation, and umbrella policies based on guidelines.
• Utilize underwriting information such as inspection reports, claims history, and applications for decision-making.
• Determine appropriate premiums and coverages for policies based on filed rates and risk characteristics.
• Maintain strong relationships with agencies, including travel and management responsibilities.
• Meet or exceed service standards for underwriting and processing applications, endorsements, renewals, and new business.
• Train and mentor underwriters.
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years of commercial multi-line or package underwriting experience; habitational experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and computer skills.
• Professional designations like CPCU, CIC, ARM preferred or in progress.
• Experience with ImageRight preferred.

The salary range is $83,600 - $154,600, with potential bonuses based on performance. Compensation varies depending on multiple factors including location and experience.
