Job description

Senior Underwriter- Inland Marine

Locations: Los Angeles, CA | San Francisco, CA | USA

As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for delivering a profitable underwriting service to your clients. Your key tasks include underwriting within the agreed business plan and authority, supporting business planning and forecasting, monitoring financial exposure and premium income, maintaining awareness of claims, ensuring adequate reinsurance, building relationships with brokers and clients, and supporting risk design and structuring.

Essential responsibilities include:

  1. Reviewing submissions such as specifications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports to assess risk.
  2. Calculating risk premiums considering inherent risk costs, loss experience, reinsurance, and costs to ensure profitability.
  3. Advising and servicing clients on insurance and risk management to ensure satisfaction.
  4. Managing relationships to promote cross-selling and account retention.
  5. Implementing new and renewed accounts according to standards.
  6. Coordinating with internal teams for reinsurance placement.
  7. Reviewing loss control reports and managing policy endorsements.
  8. Monitoring claims and supporting settlement processes.
  9. Collaborating with team members including underwriters and management.
  10. Working with other business units on cross-sell opportunities.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager.
