Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an experienced underwriter to assess risk, negotiate terms, and grow a diverse book of financial‑institution clients across the country. You will partner with agents and brokers, analyze complex risk, and drive profitable outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.

This role requires deep product knowledge, strong communication, and mentoring skills, with travel to meetings and a focus on strategic relationships within the P&C team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Five to eight years of underwriting experience.
• Deep knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and local markets.
• Strong critical thinking skills with ability to underwrite, market products, identify financial challenges, and analyze information.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate with agents and brokers.
• Experience coaching and mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Execute underwriting strategies to achieve profit and growth objectives.
• Cultivate relationships with internal partners to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with external partners by meeting agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Develop and execute agency sales plans aligned with regional strategies.
• Train and mentor less experienced underwriters.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
