Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance in Seattle seeks an equipment breakdown underwriter to build a profitable, diversified book through underwriting decisions and strong broker relationships. You will develop, grow and maintain the book, mentoring junior staff and guiding risk selection and pricing strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; two to seven years of relevant experience.
• CPCU or professional designation preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, pricing, risk selection, market segments and reinsurance.

Responsibilities

• Risk selection: Review, rate and underwrite business; determine premium, terms and conditions; obtain approvals and negotiate deals.
• Agent/broker relationships: Build strong relationships, visit sites, attend renewals, grow pipeline.
• Portfolio management: Analyze portfolio, identify growth opportunities, execute marketing plans.
• Documenting the deal: Maintain clear files with account reviews, sign-offs and referrals; follow regulations.
• Leadership: Mentor and coach underwriters and analysts on technical and professional skills.
• Continuous improvement: Participate in problem-solving and use CI tools to support the team.
