Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a senior or executive-level equipment breakdown underwriter in the Charleston area. You will develop and maintain a profitable, diversified book of business while building strong agent and broker relationships and mentoring junior underwriters.

The role emphasizes risk selection, pricing and underwriting decisions, and leadership in portfolio growth and process improvement. Candidates with CPCU or related designation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field; CPCU or professional designation preferred.
• Four to seven years of relevant experience preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of insurance products/coverage and underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Risk selection: Review, rate, and underwrite insurance applications; determine premium, terms and conditions.
• Build strong agent/broker relationships through responsive service and site visits.
• Portfolio management: Grow and diversify the book of business and execute marketing plans.
• Document the deal with clear account reviews and referrals; follow regulations and guidelines.
• Lead and mentor junior underwriters and analysts; contribute to team development.
• Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and results.
