Job summary

Markel is seeking an experienced Sr. Underwriter to underwrite new business and renewals in a profitable manner within authority. The role involves working with agents/brokers, using underwriting tools, and ensuring compliance with state laws.

Travel up to 25% is expected across U.S. locations. Qualifications include 3-5+ years in environmental and energy underwriting (GL, pollution lines), strong analytical and communication skills, and a four-year degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5+ years environmental and energy underwriting experience.
• Demonstrated marketing and relationship building skills.
• Four year college degree preferred.
• Technologically fluent; proficient in Word, Outlook, & Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business and renewals in a profitable manner within authority and guidelines.
• Support assignments with agents/brokers, and manage underwriting documentation.
• Meet or exceed new business and renewal underwriting production goals.
• Provide coaching to others when needed.
• Review complex policies and quote accounts within guidelines.
