Job summary

Markel is seeking an experienced Energy Casualty underwriter to underwrite new business and renewals profitably within the Energy line. You will assess risk, use underwriting tools, and ensure adherence to state laws across territories while mentoring junior staff.

The role involves reviewing and pricing forms, maintaining producer relations, and contributing to audits and meetings. Travel up to 25% may be required in support of assignments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Energy Casualty underwriting experience.
• Bachelor's degree and/or CPCU or similar designation preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, accept, and decline Energy Casualty risks to ensure profitability.
• Underwrite and select new business that will produce an underwriting profit.
• Manage renewal book and implement corrective measures for profitability.
• Communicate with UW Manager and product line leaders on accounts and producers.
• Participate in audits and underwriting meetings.
• Build and maintain relationships with key producers for profitability.
• Review forms and pricing of competitors and market Markel products.
