Sompo is seeking an Assistant Vice President for E&S Property to lead underwriting for diverse commercial risks. Based in Alpharetta, GA or Chicago, IL, this role requires deep underwriting discipline, pricing acumen, and leadership in a results-driven environment.

The position emphasizes collaboration, client engagement, and strategic risk assessment with opportunities to mentor junior underwriters and shape territory growth.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of underwriting/insurance experience.
• Experience with large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailers.
• Strong negotiation skills and relationship-building with insureds, agents, and brokers.

Responsibilities

• Review applications and determine acceptability of risk per Sompo guidelines.
• Analyze pricing components and rating methodology; price risk based on financial/competitive analysis.
• Prepare analyses on adverse decisions, rate appeals, and underwriting requirements to drive territory results.
• Attend client/broker meetings and industry events as applicable; travel to market territory as needed.
