Job summary

Arbol, a global climate risk coverage platform, is hiring a Senior Underwriter in the United States to evaluate, price, and bind property and weather-related risks, with a focus on wildfire. You will manage submissions from first look through bind, collaborating with brokers, data science, and capacity partners.

This role requires strong property cat risk understanding, data-driven pricing, and a license in Property & Casualty (or intent to obtain within 90 days); you’ll help shape underwriting

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in commercial property underwriting or related roles.
• Solid understanding of catastrophe exposure and its impact on pricing and capacity.
• Experience in E&S lines and working with wholesale brokers.
• Comfort with data, cat model output, and pricing tools; strong Excel skills.
• Sound judgment on risk selection and the ability to decline or restructure non-fit business.
• Clear written and verbal communication with brokers and internal teams.
• Active Property & Casualty license or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite insurance and reinsurance submissions, including risk selection and aggregate management.
• Grow the commercial book in admitted and surplus lines with a focus on parametric exposures.
• Develop market distribution channels and broker relationships.
• Review and price submissions for property, catastrophe, and parametric risks within authority.
• Collaborate with data science to use catastrophe models and exposure analytics in pricing.
• Structure parametric triggers, limits, and payout terms.
