Job summary

SubCom seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design for next-gen undersea network elements. You will drive concepts through manufacture, coordinating with electrical, optical, firmware, reliability, and manufacturing teams to meet project goals.

You will mentor engineers, conduct DFMEA reviews, and contribute to design verification, qualification testing, and hands-on prototyping in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Strong foundation in mechanics, materials, testing, and optical transmission concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept to manufacture for undersea products.
• Develop and document design verification and qualification test plans.
• Collaborate with electrical, optical, firmware, reliability, and other mechanical engineers; mentor junior staff.
