Job summary

WSP USA in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Lead Underground Paste Backfill Engineer to lead technical delivery of the underground paste backfill scope. This role interfaces with the surface paste plant, underground mining operations, engineering disciplines, construction, commissioning, and the Owner's team to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective project execution.

The role requires 8+ years of mining project experience, proven leadership of engineering teams on major capital projects, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of mining project experience including underground mining and paste backfill systems.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams on major capital projects.
• Strong understanding of EPCM delivery models and QA/QC.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of all underground paste backfill engineering activities.
• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, and specialist resources.
• Monitor progress, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and deliverables.
• Coordinate interfaces between mining, process, mechanical, piping, electrical, controls, geotechnical, civil and construction teams.
• Support project controls, risk management, change management, and reporting activities.
• Lead design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments.
