Job summary

Ubertal Inc. is seeking a Sr. UI/UX Developer / Architect to lead the setup and maintenance of an enterprise design system from scratch, ensuring WCAG 2.1 compliance and accessible front-end components using HTML, SASS, and Angular.

You will document UI patterns in Storybook, collaborate across engineering teams, mentor developers, and drive UX standards. This hybrid, 9-month contract is based in Des Moines, IA with onsite requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional front-end development experience.
• Experience building, integrating, and setting up enterprise design systems from scratch.
• In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1/AAA, ARIA roles, semantic HTML, and accessibility testing tools.
• Hands-on proficiency with HTML, SASS, and Angular.
• Storybook for component documentation and development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build, document, and maintain scalable design systems and reusable components using USWDS.
• Develop high-level wrapper components with HTML, SASS, and Angular for UI consistency and accessibility.
• Enforce WCAG 2.1/AAA compliance through semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and accessibility testing workflows.
• Use Storybook for development, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Mentor developers to uphold UX standards and accessibility guidelines.
• Participate in code reviews, accessibility audits, and design discussions.
