Job summary

Piper Companies seeks a Sr. UC Network Engineer with a Secret clearance to support a DoD customer at Scott Air Force Base, IL. This onsite role requires four days per week on base and focuses on advanced UC and enterprise network infrastructure within a classified environment.

Responsibilities include leading UC implementations (Call Manager, Jabber, Unity Connection, IM&P), routing and switching, firewall policy, and gateway protocols (SIP, SCCP, MGCP, H.323).

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in enterprise networking, UC, and collaboration technologies.
• Active Secret Security Clearance required.
• CCIE Collaboration preferred or CCNP Collaboration required.
• Strong background supporting Call Manager, Jabber, Unity Connection, IM&P, and enterprise UC environments.
• Experience with routing and switching, firewall policy management, spanning tree, Layer 1/2 networking, gateway protocols, PSTN technologies, and lifecycle management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead technical consultant for enterprise UC and networking environments for a DoD customer.
• Design, implement, optimize, and troubleshoot UC technologies including Call Manager, Jabber, Unity Connection, and IM&P.
• Provide advanced routing, switching, firewall, and network architecture expertise for critical infrastructure initiatives.
• Lead technical discussions on gateway protocols (SIP, SCCP, MGCP, H.323) and PSTN solutions (PRI, SIP trunks, CUBE, T1).
• Perform lifecycle management: firmware upgrades, platform optimization, and infrastructure modernization.
• Build strong client relationships and act as trusted advisor during escalations and strategic technology initiatives.
