Job summary

Airbus is seeking a Senior Flight Dynamics & Avionics Engineer to bridge aerodynamics, embedded software, and real flight behavior for UAV platforms in Bingen, WA or Grand Prairie, TX. This hands-on role demands deep expertise in flight dynamics, GNC, and systems integration to ensure safe, efficient operation of advanced VTOL systems.

You will model flight mechanics, analyze flight data, refine control laws, and collaborate with software and hardware teams.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years in aerospace, UAV, or flight control engineering.
• Five+ years' hands-on flight data analysis and validation.
• Strong background in flight mechanics and aerodynamics.
• Experience tuning flight control and navigation algorithms.
• Proficient with embedded systems and avionics interfaces (CAN/UART/TCP).
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and support integration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze UAV flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and control performance.
• Refine and validate performance objectives; support flight testing.
• Tune GNC algorithms; assess sensor fusion and estimation.
• Own autopilot/software integration insights; collaborate with engineers.
• Document algorithm descriptions, test procedures, and results.
• Mentor junior engineers on flight mechanics and control theory.
