Job summary

Wing is seeking a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer to join our Aircraft Development team in a hybrid role based in Palo Alto, CA. You will lead aerodynamic design, testing, and analysis for unmanned aerial systems and contribute to scalable drone delivery aircraft programs.

The role requires 8+ years in UAS aerodynamics, strong coding skills (Python/Matlab), and hands-on testing experience. Collaboration with mechanical, electrical, GN&C, and software teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in design and performance analysis of electric/hybrid UAS or eVTOL aircraft.
• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
• Strong understanding of fixed-wing and multirotor aerodynamics, performance, stability & control.
• Experience processing and analyzing flight and lab test data.
• Proficient in Python and Matlab; knowledge of programming and data analysis.
• Experience with wind tunnel and propulsion testing.
• Familiarity with AVL, XFOIL, XROTOR, CHARM or similar tools.
• Experience prototyping small UAS including composites.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform aerodynamic design, trade studies, and analyses for aircraft performance.
• Identify key technologies for future capabilities via research and testing.
• Analyze aerodynamics, flight dynamics, propulsion, and performance via tests and simulations.
• Process test data for thrust, power, efficiency, acoustics, and thermal performance.
• Develop performance models for design and software-in-the-loop tools.
• Create and maintain multidisciplinary design and analysis tools.
• Support development through concept to detailed design, prototyping, and validation.
