Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Solder Technician III to test and troubleshoot electronic and control systems used in unmanned air vehicles. The role involves manufacturing, testing, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and components for small UAVs, including avionics and payloads.

Candidates should have substantial experience with electrical schematics, drawing interpretation, and hands-on electronics assembly.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate from a trade/technical school required
• Minimum of 5 - 8 years of experience in an aircraft manufacturing or Aerospace R&D environment
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office
• Ability to translate engineered designs into build instructions for assembly and test personnel
• Experience with electrical schematics and interpreting drawings
• Hands-on experience with analog and digital hardware
• Experience with avionics and/or controls in prototype development
• Willingness to overtime and some weekends
• Background check and drug test; valid driver's license with clean record

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, test, inspect, and repair electrical systems and components
• Write assembly and test procedures; maintain detailed activity notebook
• Operate and maintain tools safely
• Fabricate electronic assemblies for small UAVs from drawings and guidance
• Solder electrical and avionics components and assemble wire harnesses
• Repair UAV subsystems and assist in prototype builds
• Field or flight testing may be required; travel may be needed
• Take initiative and potentially lead a small team
• Adapt methods for new assignments and share knowledge with teammates
