Job summary

Concepts NREC seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced turbomachinery systems. This role combines hands‑on mechanical design, engineering leadership, and project execution while working closely with aerodynamicists, structural analysts, mechanical design engineers, manufacturing partners, test engineers, and clients.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience, including turbomachinery design experience.
• Strong understanding of rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors, pumps, or similar machinery.
• Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD modeling and mechanical design documentation.
• Experience creating and reviewing detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Product Data Management (PDM) experience is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, guide, mentor, and develop mechanical design engineers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced turbomachinery components and assemblies, including compressors, turbines, pumps, expanders, and supporting systems.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, structural analysis, rotordynamics, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a small team of Mechanical Design Engineers and CAD personnel.
• Assist with planning, prioritization, and execution of design activities across multiple programs.
• Participate in design reviews and promote compliance with engineering standards and best practices.
• Review engineering drawings, models, bills of materials, and engineering change documentation.
• Help develop and implement improved design processes, standards, and engineering practices.
• Interface directly with customers to understand requirements and communicate technical solutions.
• Contribute to proposal development, technical planning, and project execution strategies.
• Support sales and business development activities by providing technical input and identifying new opportunities.
