Job summary

Dr. Sauer & Partners Ltd seeks a Senior Tunnel Engineer (Senior SEM Engineer) to lead the SEM supervision team on a construction site in the USA.

You will manage a team of SEM and geotechnical engineers, ensuring RES execution aligns with design and QA/QC procedures, while coordinating with Tunnel Manager, client representatives and stakeholders. You will review geological conditions, monitor construction progress and contribute to production optimization, safety, and logistics.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or comparable field.
• Proven experience leading and managing high-profile tunnelling projects.
• Experience in tunnel design and/or supervision in urban environments and soft ground SEM/NATM tunnelling.
• Strong analytical and structural engineering background in heavy civil construction and tunnelling.
• Sound knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles.
• Ability to develop, influence and deliver innovative technical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review monthly reports, RES Sheets, and related documentation.
• supervise SEM Inspectors in a 24/7 shift pattern.
• Provide construction support aligned with design to contractor representatives.
• Carry out geological and geotechnical assessments of ground and water conditions.
• Assist in developing construction processes and logistics in line with design intent.
• Comply with ISO 9001:2015 procedures and Quality Management Plan.
• Report activities and issues to the Project Director and stakeholders.
