Job summary

Lewis Tree Service in Michigan is seeking a Top Trimmer to perform advanced tree trimming and removal work, including aloft operations and rigging near energized lines. You’ll lead site setup, safety, and crew coordination while promoting a culture of training, safety, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience on tree crews and completion of Top Trimmer-level qualifications.
• General knowledge of tree identification, growth habits, and pruning techniques.
• Knowledge of ANSI Z133 safety requirements and A300 pruning standards.
• Advanced tree ascent/descent using ropes and a safety saddle; skilled in aerial lift operations.
• Proficiency with electrical circuit basics and interpreting circuit maps.
• Top Trimmer certification or ability to complete.
• Valid driver’s license, CDL and medical certification.
• CPR and First Aid certification provided by Lewis.
• Ability to lead others and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced tree trimming and removal work, aloft or with aerial lift.
• Lead job site setup, maintenance, and traffic control.
• Lead tree felling, rigging, and clearance near energized lines.
• Support ground-level pruning and removal.
• Direct crews in the crew leader’s absence.
• Apply herbicides in accordance with laws and guidelines.
• Operate tools and equipment and maintain trucks and vehicles.
• Ensure safety by identifying hazards and communicating clearly.
• Train crew in climbing, trimming and safety practices.
• Participate in emergency response and storm work as needed.
