Job summary

Terracon in Alabama is seeking an experienced field testing professional to perform testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials. You will communicate results to the Project Manager, train junior staff, and coordinate technicians for diverse field projects.

The role requires 5–10 years of relevant experience, strong safety focus, and ability to travel extensively. Proficiency with Word/Excel and CMELMS is expected, with various NICET/ICC/AWS/ASNT certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
• Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% and extended periods away from home.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as project demands require.
• A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• NICET Level III certification in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical, ICC certifications, AWS SCWI, ASNT Level III, or other recognized certifications will be considered.
• ACI certifications in Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or Concrete Strength Testing Technician; radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs field testing, observation, and inspection as directed per procedures.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Trains lower level technicians and may supervise activities of other technicians.
• Plan, schedule and dispatch Technicians to project sites based on skill set and priority.
• Maintain equipment operation and calibration and ensure safety compliance.
