Job summary

ATCS is seeking a Senior Transportation Construction QA Inspector to join our Construction Services team in Northern Virginia. This senior role requires extensive field inspection experience and the ability to manage project records and materials documentation independently.

Applicants should bring senior-level responsibility, familiarity with VDOT standards, OSHA safety rules, and proven ability to coordinate with contractors and owners.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of transportation construction inspection experience.
• Experience maintaining project records on transportation construction projects.
• Experience maintaining materials documentation/books.
• Consultant/QA/owner-representative construction inspection experience preferred.
• Experience with Virginia roadway construction and VDOT projects preferred.
• Knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications and Standards.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements for road and bridge construction sites.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management systems.
• Candidates must have hands-on experience with project-records and documentation responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform transportation construction inspections on highway, bridge, environmental, traffic, and facilities projects.
• Provide oversight of contractor work crews to ensure contract compliance.
• Read and interpret contract documents and verify safe construction practices.
• Write detailed daily progress and inspection reports.
• Maintain complete and accurate project records and documentation.
• Manage materials documentation and project materials records/books.
• Document materials, labor compliance, safety, estimates, work orders, adjustments, and other activities.
• Report on-site activities and daily progress to the Project Engineer.
• Calculate, verify, and document pay quantities.
• Perform applicable field testing of materials (concrete slump/air, soil compaction, HMA).
• Coordinate with contractors, project staff, engineers, and owner representatives.
