Job summary

BKF Engineers in San Jose is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our traffic and transportation design team. The role focuses on roadway, highway, intersection projects, and multi-modal planning for Public Works and Caltrans, with emphasis on traffic signal and safety analysis.

You will collaborate with staff and clients, manage design tasks, and contribute to TMPs and bid support. A CA PE license is preferred and EIT is required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in traffic and transportation design.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum.
• PE license in California preferred; EIT required.
• AutoCAD-Civil 3D mastery.
• Experience with MicroStation, AutoTurn, AGi32 Lighting Analysts, and SignCAD.
• Caltrans experience with Traffic Design Standards, PID, PA&ED, and PS&Es.

Responsibilities

• Transportation/Traffic Design for roadway, highway, intersection projects, and multi-modal (ATP) projects for Public Works and Caltrans projects.
• Traffic signal, lighting/electrical, signing, striping, and stage construction/ traffic handling
• Accident and safety analysis
• Transportation Management Plans(TMP)
• Bid and construction support, including RFIs and Shop drawings
